FALOUSE DEFENSES
Located South of Verdun at an altitude of 230 metres on a hillside overlooking the Meuse, this is a small concrete fort with a turret for a 75mm field gun, three armoured lookout posts, a machine gun turret etc. Inside are 30 figures depicting the life in a fort behind the French lines in 1916.
February to october. Entrance is not free.
Built between 1906 and 1908 from reinforced concrete this defensive military structure was placed high on a hill over the Meuse valley and is one of the most up to date in the sector. It has an eclipse gun turret, armour-plated observation points and bombproof sentry post. The structure was not attacked during the war and now 30 life-sized models of French soldiers from the era represent daily life during the Great War.
